Veterinary Question
It’s important to understand the limitations surrounding veterinary advice shared publicly. After consulting with a vet, here’s what I learned:
-
Vets are bound by strict rules to avoid anything that could be seen as advertising or poaching clients from other vets.
-
Sharing specific advice on an open forum can create conflicts and liability issues. It is always better for a vet to diagnose an issue in person rather than through a forum.
To ensure responsible sharing, we encourage members to stay in direct contact with their own vet. However, if your vet diagnoses an issue and you believe the experience could be valuable for others, you can ask your vet for permission to record and share a video of the treatment. With their consent, you can upload this to the members’ group as a learning resource.
The Year of the Boran
This year has been dedicated to celebrating the Boran breed, chosen by ZHB, with the year running from one Beef School to the next. To mark this special year, ZBBS will be sharing monthly tips to help all Zimbabwe cattle farmers improve herd health, productivity, and management. These tips are our way of giving back to farmers and supporting breeders by sharing knowledge, experience, and best practices for raising strong, healthy cattle.
You can also find all the monthly tips and related information on our website, boran.co.zw, under the “Society” section, or contact us on 077 726 4333.
Stay tuned each month for practical advice to help your herd thrive! 🐂
